Why Less WM are Using Agencies...

At the last get-together of AM/RW, one of the discussions that caught my interest was the possible trend of less WM being interested in RW.  More correctly, there seems to be a lessening of business going through agencies of late.  There’s no hard data for this, just a feeling among those in the know.  If true the reasons are complex but are perhaps explainable considering the social economic climate.

1) Russia’s prosperity  - There is a huge influx of cash being generated in Russia from their natural resource, and capital goods. Despite the less than liked business climate, international businesses are pouring capital into Russian to have a stake in the future.  Though much of this wealth goes to the upper 5%, this gives the perception to many RW that it will trickle down to them.

 2) America’s declining prosperity  - As the war in Iraq goes on sucking up much of the nation’s reserves, the affect at home are very visible.  The job market is shifting to more low waged positions and less high paid ones.  Increasing immigration rates are not helping either.  Individual net worth is declining through falling home prices.  Most prudent AM would thing twice about spending big bucks when his earning power is sliding as well as his core assets.

3) Exchange Rate  - As the dollar gets weaker the ruble gets stronger.  About 4 years ago the dollar was the preferred “safe” currency in Russia.  No more.  Now it is the Euro for its stability and value.  This means that anything Russian is going to cost an AM more than before… this includes a Russian bride.  To the tune of about 25% from 5 years ago.

4) American Demographic Decline  - As the baby boomer demographics rides over the hump in age, AM maybe more concerned with retirement than incurring more liabilities.  A question of security over happiness.

5) Russian Demographic Decline  - As Russia pulls away from the Soviet days, less and less RW are imbued with the experience of the black days and years of hardship.  This gives less drive to consider a foreign husband.

6) Increased Scam Activity  - Scamming WM is an established industry, now.  It is wide spread throughout the Internet and beyond.  Also, it is well published so that everyone knows about it.  This can make the uninitiated gun shy to even considering a RW at this point.

 7) Road Well Traveled  - It used to be that venturing in Russian was considered a very risk affair just to get to one’s destination.  Today, with the many conduits of information (i.e. forums like this), travel to and going about Russia is more commonplace in the bigger cities.  These cities have even made inroads to accommodate Western travelers.  This leads WM to rely less on agencies for logistics and services.

8) Alternate Contact Methods  - the Internet has developed a reasonably solid network to connect with RW through profile exchange sites and personals.  These alternate methods have the potential to canvas a wide net with less cost.  This would have great appeal to a wider group of WM where cost is a more critical factor and with RW that are located in less accessible areas.

9) Red Tape – Something we all need is more of this.  The UMBRA law has made a new hurdle for AM where there was none before.  As if it isn’t difficult enough to navigate though Russian requirements, homeland immigrations and Embassy scrutiny.  The end result is an extra cost and resource burden for AM to pursue their dreams of a happy life.

10) It's a Big World After All  -  Russian is not the end all source of foreign brides.  South America and Asian is competing for the much sought after WM.  These areas have a lower cost of logistics and perhaps more receptive women.  However, this is tempered highly on the preference of WM.

I think that this pretty much sums it up.  There are many rational reasons for WM to not utilize agencies... for that matter even pursuing RW.  Perhaps WM are side stepping them or perhaps there are less WM marrying RW… difficult to tell.

However, all can’t be based on rational reasoning.  What I do know is that regardless of disincentives, when a man makes that conscious decision that his future life can be found in a Russian Woman there will be no stopping him.  No barrier is too high nor too long to endure and over come.  The barriers become challenges making the prize all the more sweeter.

WM are clever in this way.  They will do what is necessary to pry their way in and find their dreams whether it is the bitter cold snows of Siberia or the desolate regions of central Russia.  Just as WM followed the Klondike trails for the promise of golden riches, so too will WM ford the corners of Russia to bring home their own riches in a relationship with a woman that is beyond the likes they have every encountered... a joy to be unraveled and revealed in a lifetime.
