It is good to be home. First Arkady, my father in law is delighted I am back. We bond well and language is really no problem, with the translator. Not always accurate, but we get our points across. Second and most important, is Love is estatic that I am here and not waiting on the visa and her move to the USA. Love is now looking over my shoulder and wondering who is this Russian Woman Primer, and why am I writing to her. So i will post this and then show her the forum of friends and how we discuss and support one another.

JPjr,

Sorry for the late reply.  Things have been very busy on the home front as of late.  Still, it good know that your visit went well.

Well... your RWife is interested in the RWP?  Though it is primarily for WM, it is open to RW as well.  Being that the posting members are very civilized, it would be conducive to introduce RW for their POVs.  It is your call.

I'm looking forward to any pics you many want to post.  It seems that we have a few members that have been or are seriously interested in that area.

Hi Ron and all. I have been quite busy, staying one step ahead of cabin fever. I am not used to so much snow so early in the year. Only about 6 ", but may not stop till it is a foot or so. I have busied myself with remodeling the 36 yr old flat. Have painted wc and upgrades to bath room. Have made some window repairs and the kitchen is next. I love to do this sort of thing, so it is as much for my benefit as it is the flats. Papa has been showing me all the best places to shop for hardware and best prices. I learned long ago to bargain about every transaction wherever and whenever, and Russia is a prime place to bargain. Love is thrilled when I bargain with my translator and get a better price even though I am AM.Sorry no pics yet. The few I was able to take on the sunny days, my digital is not so good in the gloom and I am Photoshop clueless, Have not been downloaded to this laptop yet. I do have some good shots from our day in Moscow, and will add plenty to my Photobuckett and here eventually. This time around it is much easier to communicate with home due to Skyping between our PCs. .Cheboksary is a great city and I can find my way around on the buses most of the time, haha, so a Cheboksary Q & A is all right with me. Chuvashia has it's own website and easily found. Hope to take a road trip to historic Kazan, about an hour away, but I am told you can not rent a car anywhere and the bus to Kazan is about 3 hrs. I want a Volga so I may buy a used one. Well, see you here and hope all is well right in your world.

Hi David, thanks for the compliments. The lake behind me used to be a river mouth converging with the Volga River, another 100yards to the right. A causeway damns the flow and makes a city park lake around which many activities take place. Duh,m Ron, delete a couple of these:shock:

JPjr,

Sounds like you're having a whale of a time!

Take a lot of pics.  Even of everyday things and life.  You won't regret it.  If you want to include some pics with your posts, but the pics need some work (too dark), email them to me and I can touch them up and insert them into the posts for you.

A Volga?  Volgas are big cars that have good amounts of room on the inside, however it's a lot of steel to haul around.  Consequently, it eats a lot of gas.  Ladas look small but the interior space is also good (shy of the Volga's).  Ladas are like Volgas with the seats 5 inches closer to the floorpan.  Still, if I got in an accident, I would prefer being in a Volga.

RW really appreciate a WM that can bargain for the best price.  It's a sign of a clever man and RW go for clever men, but I don't have to tell you that.;)

OK, here are some random questions that WM might like to know.  Do they have agencies in the city?  Are translators easy to come by?  Do they have a linguistics university?  Do they have western style hotels?  What's the RW situation there?

Also, you might want to post at VisaJourney about your visa dilemma.  I recommend this site for tough unusual situations in immigration, however perhaps they may have some ideas as well.

Hi Ron and all, Primers. Things are great, save for the run around by police for Lu's police files. The only agency I know about, is http://www.an-kor.com Lu's GFs have used this agency. A friend from antidate lives here and is a translator. Interpreters, I would think Sasha at ANKOR, would know. Lu uses a notary for certified translations.. The only hotel I can recomend is Hotel Russia, very western and good rates, and staff. RW situation Alert:critical overload emminent good looking single women of all ages here. Many with faraway eyes. Neck breaking scenery, even on these subzerodays. I will get you the 2 photos for posting in a few.

Hi JPjr, I am using tha an-kor agency and I have met some of the staff, including Sasha.  They are a good team and Sasha is a good translator.  I will be going out to Cheboksary soon, but I am waiting for the temperatures to get really cold!! I am hoping to see the Volga frozen over......that must be a site.  Also I am trying to learn some more Russian, other than spaseeba and dos-vedanya!  Cheers!

Hi all and Honestman, I will be here till Jan 14, when you get to town, give me a ring, we can trade numbers here. The lake at city water front has frozen over and some are ice fishing already. Ron, I needed to edit my last post but had internet probs. It is the Hotel Russia, I stayed at, not the Chuvashia.
