I am glad I have stumbled on this forum. I like the positive nature of the posts versus other forums.
After spending a lot of my off time reading the threads, I thought it time to share some of my experiences. Perhaps they might help some newcomers.
So far, I have met 5 beautiful - and different - women from the FSU. I was inspired to search the FSU in 2003 after meeting a man that worked in Kazakstan and imported his beautiful young bride to upstate New York where we both worked. After a long, cold, solitary year in NY, I felt why not?
The first lady I met - through Globalladies - was one near my own age - I was 47 at the time - when I flew her to the Domincan Republic in the summer of 2004. Yes, I sent money and was relieved when she got off the plane. There is nothing like the sight of 6' blonde beauty walking to you to brighten your day!! We spent 10 great days and managed to communicate with little problem by way of dictionaries and the electronic translator. We kept the topics simple and both had a very nice time. I was more interested in her reactions to the situation and those around us than words. Once back in Novisibirsk, she was transferred to another city and we lost touch. I was impressed with the grace, elegance, and feminine charms of the lady. I was hooked! This matched the impressions I got from the young Kazak bride mentioned earlier. After losing touch, I decided to look at a lady of child bearing desire.
I continued using GL and found the service to my liking with the pay as you go plan. I could open letters form ladies that appealed to me. Since translation was included on both sides, I felt the cost acceptable. Only one lady turned out to be a scam. We emailed for a time but when it came time to set up a meeting, the emails stopped. I complained and was issued some credits.
After some travel research, I decided to focus on Ukraine due to ease of travel and not needing a visa to enter.
I took a rotating position in the Middle East that allowed me to make trips into the FSU on my time off before heading home. I met a lady through GL in Nikolaev and set up a meeting. The lady arranged a flat, taxi from the Niko airport and acted as my "protecter" while in her city. I was able to roam the city streets alone during the day - after intitial hesitation - and found the people helpful, honest, patient and even a bit amused by the Westerner seeking romance. I actually felt safer there than in some parts of the city I now live in! The first meeting went well and I set up a second meeeting which did not go so well, but we parted on friendly terms. She is good woman but just not quite the match we both hoped for.
This first trip in included a 6 hour taxi ride from Kiev to Nikolaev due to customs goofs by me causingme to miss the internal flight to Odessa! The lady was wating for me in Odessa by the time I figured out how to get my cell phone chip and call her. She was less than happy but explained how to get there and laughed about my concerns for safety. It was good to see the countryside and I learned much just by taking the taxi.
After a reevaluation period, I started using AWeb. Again, I like the pay as you go plan. I found a lady from Stavropol that was able to travel to Istanbul so I sent money and she met me there. This was my biggest disapointment as she was more into shopping for herself than seeing if we were compatible. We agreed we were not and I left after 2 days. While I may have been skimmed, I do not feel scammed by her or the agency. She just had differnt perspective on my money! Kind of like the strippers I know at home! I was able to keep the trip reasonably economical and the flight was was inexpensive since I was already in Frankfurt due to work travel. I enjoyed Istanbul and will go back.
I found another lady through AWeb from Donetsk and agreed to meet her in Kiev. I set up everything online for an apartment and taxi service and she acted as my guide in Kiev. I sent money for her flight and she was waiting for me when I arrived in Kiev from working as promised. Here I feel a little scammed by the apratment agency but it is buyer beware! I was not happy and received a break on the rent. It was a good location on the main street a block from Indepedence Square so it worked out OK. The lady was nice in that she took great care to use the public transport to save money. I did not ask this as taxis are OK and reasonable. I found the immersion into the daily ey opening and refreshing. She was not interested in going to expensive restaurants either. I just do not think it was in her nature. We had a good 5 days and will see each other again after the holidays. I have good feeling about this one. She spoke very little English but communicated just fine.
The next lady I met was also in Kiev where I again sent money and again she met me as promised. So far so good! This was to be my first experience with an interpreter. As it turns out, the interpreter also owns the local agency that contracts with AWeb. She said they were good for providing an outlet for the ladies and many men for the ladies to choose from. She explained that AW does not routinely check on the ladies in the profiles, but asks the local agencies to police their members. Perhaps this is where the problems come from concerning AWeb and GL? They are a clearing house. The local agencies may be the guilty party in poor service and scam letters. I did feel at times like I was being double teamed but overall the experience was positiveand I continue to email the lady but I see interst dropping on her end.
As for our meeting, the lady was striking - and tall. I am 6'2" so it was good. She was happy I was not shorter as in her past meetings. The interpreter acted as tour guide to the city and the overall cost was quite a bit higher than the previous trip. After eating at an outrageously expensive and poor quality meal my first night, we came to an understanding on meal costs. Although I paid for the interpreter's meals, this was offset by the discount cards she always seem to have. Hmmmmm... It seems, she also managed to be the last to leave the restaurants. Hmmmm....We had another short talk about restaurant choices and the motivations and this stopped also. I am not opposed to the business practices, I just wish to be informed prior to the fact. After the first meal, the rest were accptable in cost and comparible to what I would spend at a very nice restaurant in the US. I love the simple and tasty foods of the Ukraine! I am so tired of fried everything in the US!
And then the shopping bug hit - again. I explained I had been to Kiev before and I knew that the name brand shops were not the only places to shop. Since I do not buy fancy name brands at home, I would not do it here - especially for me!. If the lady needs a heavy coat or shoes, I am the first to help but not buying just to buy. We again came to an understanding and I picked up few nice gifts for her and her family without breaking the bank. We still email outside AWeb but I doubt it will go much further. We will meet again I will see if there is any reason to consider further contact. It will be tough to beat the lady from Donetsk!
I am now planning my 5th trip into Ukraine in Janury but this time I will not do the WOVO. As my current project is ending in January 2007, I may not have as easy a time in the future making trips. I plan on making a decision - assuming more than one acceptable lady has also chosen me - this trip and concentrate on one woman.
Words of advise from a new guy: The trips are what you make of them. Put extra effort in and you will be rewarded. Go with a bad attitude and the experience will stay in your memory. Do a little research first and surprises will be fewer. Enjoy the adventure of being in a formerly forbidden culutre. It is easy to become addicted to the beautiful and pleasant women available in FSU. Most I have emailed are sincere and I have been more than lucky in the women I have chosen to meet. I have been honest to all of them as to my intentions, needs and wants. I make sure we both undestand that this may not work out but we should enjoy the chance to meet someone from the other side of the world and it is an adventure. I respect the lady and do not pressure her for sex or any other intimacy. We are adults and if it happens , it happens. If not, it will not alter my opinion of the lady negatively. After the women of the US willing to jump so quickly into bed with anyone, it is refreshing to see morals again.
