Assuming that you have already made the decision to capture your own mysterious RW, the next question is how... much it will put as dent in your wallet.  There are many roads to get from single man to married man.  The avenue you take is up to you.  It is a personal choice chalked with expenses.  However, most of us working stiffs have limitations that closes off some of the smoother, more costly, paths.

Perhaps the number one concern is about the available funds for your endeavor.  There is no doubt about it that this is not just a weekend bash.  You will need to be packing some serious greens to make this dream come true.  However, to put it in perspective, how much did you have to spend on wooing your last long relationship GF or Ex-wife before getting married?  You know, movies, trips, gifts, time and money?  Well, in this endeavor you will inccur approximately the same expenses over a much shorter period of time.  And the kicker is that you will have a rollercoaster of a time doing it!  If you are tired of the domestic women and their ho hum ideas of commitment and/or they just aren't attractive physically or in their habits, RW maybe your 'E' ticket ride to happiness for you.

Think of budgeting first.  I've seen AM meet their RW Fiance at the local airport for less than $4000.  Then again I've seen AM spend in excess of $40,000.  It all depends on your spending habits and how tightly you choose to reign them in.  Did I mention luck?

Low end, if everythings goes right (but almost never does) this is roughly the breakdown for a OWW.  Perhaps you will spend $500 in e-searching for your lady.  With passport and visa in hand you fly to visit her ($1000).  You show her a good time and propose to her in a week ($500 in expenses).  Fly home and start the K1 Visa process (~$300).  Send her some flowers and gifts while waiting for the Visa to process (can take from 3 to 9 months).  Pay her Visa related expenses ($400).   Then when she gets the Visa, fly her to your home ($800).  If my math is correct, that is about $4000.  However, you don't have to save $4K from the get go.  You just need to be able to pay for the expenses as you incur them.

From this minimum the sky is the limit.

Remember, one of the reasons that RW go for AM (foreign men as well) is for their financial stability.  Don't go through this process if you think that you won't be able to pay for her plane fare when she gets her Visa.

Also, this is just the first bank roll you will be spending.  I even haven't mentioned the wedding, relatives visiting, Russia return visits, USCIS fees, Embassy fees, phone bills, car related bills, etc.  These other RW bride taxes (as it were) are covered in RWP in their respective topics.

My 3 visits to Russia looking to meet and marry a Russian woman cost me just over $13,000, and by the time my RW landed in Canada, I had spent almost $20,000. I had no budget starting this quest for a Russian wife, but near the end I was painfully aware of what I had spent to achieve my ultimate goal.

Visit 1 was as a tourist and I saw most of Russia - St.Petersburg, Rostov, Siberia (top to bottom) Moscow and places in between. Along the way I met 6 women. This trip got me seasoned as a traveler in Russia and I made every mistake in the book. Paid $300 USD/night for hotels in Moscow and paid several shady cab drivers $100+USD for one-way cab rides to and from Shermetyevo Airport. This trip lasted approximately 4 weeks and cost almost $8000. Get out of Moscow quickly because it is one of the MOST EXPENSIVE cities in the world to visit as a tourist!!! The women I met in Moscow wanted FIRST CLASS treatment and I was too naive to say no in the beginning!

Visit 2 was directly to see the future wife. Landed in Moscow and drove a short distance to her home. We enjoyed a week at a local retreat. Back home to Canada with a total cost of $2000.

Visit 3 was to get married in Russia, which including all expenses and a week holiday/honeymoon in Turkey cost $3000.

I cannot imagine going over to Russia, visiting a russian women, seeing some sights and coming home in 10 to 14 days for less than $3000. If one adds up all of the out of pocket expenses plus the big ticket items like airplane ticket, visa, meals, hotels and gifts prior to going - it cost money!

I think many men are intruiged with the notion of meeting a Russian woman, but significantly fewer ever get on the plane to go over and fewer yet get married. I am sure that some men might get by on spending only $4000 to get their wife over to North America if they could achieve their goal in one visit!   I suspect though that with several trips over to Russia to meet the right women and the cost of getting the new wife over to North America - the real cost is closer to $8000+.

Quest,

Again, quite right.  It is very rare that a person will be able to attain the bare bones minimum of $4000 for a RW.  Murphy's law is well supported in Russia and most should expect not being able to keep to the straight and narrow.  There are many factors that will conspire to hold this true.  The safest strategy would be to hope for the best but plan for the worst.

Hello Ronin,

I am very much the neophyte in my search for a Russian bride & I must give you a whole hearted thanks! Your in-depth info has given me the inspiration & much need keen advice to move forward in my quest. Props for this site & your dedication.

I have spent a considerable amount of $$, ($1200) over the past 4 months on a rather good Agency website. I pay on the front end to send letters & receive (about $3.99 per). I understand that it is difficult for RW to afford e-mail etc & do I do not mind the expense. I see it as an investment in my future family. I have had some experience with some "no-pay" sites & I found them to be about worth what you pay.

My question for you is general. Should I engage in other search options & if so what have you found to be the most effective? I must tell you I am committed to my quest & I am sold on finding the right RW or my match. I am saving up to make it happen but I do not have the time or money to do multiple trips to Russia to meet women face to face right off. I am much better face to face.

I understand that this is a very simple & standard question but it is my first go at it.

Again Thanks for your help

Still, think about an AW.  The wedding alone would cost you WELL over $4,000!

**Warning unmarried man giving advice like he knew what he is talking about ***

Take all advice with a grain of salt. Research things on your own it's your time, money and future........below is my view.

I think that $4,000 is too low for anyone to reasonably expect to spend.

$1200 air fare $70 per day for an apartment (not in Moscow, Kiev or St Pete) for 10 days = $700

$50 per day for expenses for 10 days = $500  $100 per trip gifts / flowers etc      $100 per trip to bring back souviers etc

So $3,100 per trip and I would figure at least 3 trips to find the future                    Mrs "Your name here"  I will be making my 6th trip in late December but I am especially slow and hard headed. Once you find your RW I doubt that you will not want to visit her during the long waiting process for a K1 /K3. So figure 4 trips

$12,400 for trips and honestly, I never made a trip spending "ONLY $3,100" it always cost me more. If you are traveling to Moscow then double the apartment and the per deim. If you live in California don't forget warm clothes etc. You can't wear shorts in much of the FSU for most of the year.

Phone calls at least $150 + per month for 18 months = $2,250

English lessons $$$? Legal Fees $$$? Dental Work $$$? Driving Lessons$$$? Wedding costs in either or both the FSU and the US $$$? Lost work time $$$?       Lost productivity$$$?

I have the RW bug and will chase my dream until I find it, but it's not for most people. It definitely takes some extra bucks but that's not all. If your friends would not describe you as adventurous or your friends would not describe you as being a leader with a strong personality (this does not mean obnoxious) and patient with a fairly thick skin then check out your local church group, pta, laundry mat, eharmony etc.

Just my two kopecks,

Bill

PS I tried to spell check this and either it didn't work or I managed to make the entire post without a spelling error which is about as likely as being a one week wonder.:D:D

I agree with this whole heartedly, however my lead in was what would be the minimum cost up to getting your RW on your home soil.  Is 4K reasonable... no way,  however it is close to the minimum based on the costs delineated in the first post.

This thread was started in in early 2006 when gas prices were relatively low.  Times have changes and I would up the minimum cost to $5000 now.  It could be done and  has been done in the past.

I agree that  the cost of a RW bride entails much more.  Still, for many, the first financial step is to determine if one has the green to cover the first major hurdle without landing as a MAC hood ornament;).
