I am new to the forum and would like to say thank you to all of you that have written here on the board. The information is amazing. I live in the bay area of Calif. My issue is that the lady I'm interested in is in Cheboksary and it is on the Volga River, it is a beautiful place and she is a school teacher. She wants me to move there as I have a small retirement and can afford a nicer apartment and so on. She does not want to know anything about my assets or other golddigger items. She says she just wants me to come to her and stay. I don't speak any Russian and she speaks poorly in english. So to all you veterans out there......What do you think....I am 55, can I make it there in this harsher land of OZ. I have no holds on me here..... Thanks to all Ron

Thatdoughboy, Welcome to the RWP! You have it right so far that RW are the way to go though going on a one way ride to Cheboksary is certain a big step. Can it be done… of course. However, it is only for those with a hearty adventurous spirit. If you have no need for many of the present material comforts that the Bay Area can provide and are looking for a challenge, then Russia maybe for you. For any large life change as you are proposing, there are some rudimentary questions that must be asked if you don’t mind. Have you lived in Russia or any developing nations before? Have you met this RW that you speak of? Ronin P.S. Great avatar! Also, if you haven't read already, we have a member (JPjr) that recently married a RW from Cheboksary. Another member (Rvrwind) is a Canadian that has permenently moved to Tver, Russia and has started his own agency. Well, I did live in Vietnam as a Marine in the Vietnam war and I lived in Japan for a year, but other than that no. I have not met her yet, we just started an Internet intro about 6 wks. ago. I was running an ad for a gf on one of the dating boards and she contacted me. I plan on making a trip in February and am being very hopeful I guess....It's going fine with our daily emails and the conversation is interesting. She is a grad school teacher and I thought quite young but her brother and father are dead and she says's she wants an older man around. She claims she has not slept with a man before but came close to giving it up but he was sleeping with her best girlfriend first...she backed off . She says Russian boys only are thinking of 2 things...some and more LOL. I haven't bought the tickets yet but she sounds like a dream......unbelieveable dream Of course more than likely believe too much..but I have not been able to catch her up on anything. I was going to hire a detective first before I went. I really thank you for taking the time to discuss it Ron

Thatdoughboy, A Marine and been to Nam. OK, your no fool and you know what to look for. Still, I agree with you that 'optimistic caution' is the operative phrase. In the case were you are putting all your eggs in one basket, it would be prudent to be reasonably sure that she's the one for you (and vice-a-versa) before you commit yourself to plane ticket. The best defense is to read, read, read... Read everything about RW and the Russian culture. Unlike Nam where you know that you're not in Kansas anymore (had to slip that Oz reference in), Russia looks and feels like parts of America. Because of this it can be very disarming, however it is very different. Another question. You mentioned that she is very young. How young? I have known couples with age differences of up to 30 years. Approaching this extreme is not without its difficulties but can be doable depending on the situation. If you are going to move to Russia, then it is more likely that a larger age difference relationship can be maintained so long as you can provide for the family (maintain the rich WM title). Ronin P.S. If you need to have her verified, I suggest you consider the following RWP scam resource page. Last edited on Saturday September 23rd, 2006 07:38 am by ronin1 |

Hey Ronin....I can't begin to tell you how helpful all your comments on the board are. I have been reading for the last 4 hours and I am flabbergasted at the work you have put into this board.....What a generous man you are.... You speak of RW as if they were the finest paintings of any museum.....The gold leaf on the chalice of life..... I sincerely hope I am not barking up a tree and eating the bark....But my gut tells me it's cool. Thanks for the suggestion about the investigation....In addition I'll give you another angle....She is 30 and I am 57.....I haven't been to lucky with women here in the US but was very lucky in all the other places I've been.....Now I am not a world Jockey looking for the best horse...I am a practical person. My plan is to go there as an English teacher as a second language, stay a minimum of 90 days and feed the ducks... if you get my drift...Only time and courage under fire will show you the right path.....Im on that yellow brick road, don't you know....and I got a pair of red shoes for special occasions. Again.....Many Thanks Ron

Thatdoughboy,You speak of RW as if they were the finest paintings of any museum.....The gold leaf on the chalice of life..... Good point. I have never seen in this light but is it certainly appropo. Yes, I can get quite passionate about the attributes of RW. When RW are good... they are very good and when they are bad they very bad. On no account would I want to change them from their basic nature. There are many places in the world that a WM can find a life long partner. Few will have that fine mixture or culture, education, love of life and family that RW possess. There is another member (rattlehead) that is considering living in Russia and working as an English teacher (instructor). Read his threads. It is not easy to get a start in Russia. Now if you know how to speak Russian then that is another story. To teach English well one must know the native language of the students. Also, some teaching credential would not hurt either. Perhaps one may not need a degree in the English language, still some papers will certainly not hurt either. Perhaps you can advertise in the local newpaper or local internet newpaper (if Cheboksary has one) to get some feelers out about free lancing as a tutor. Private tutors make pretty good money if they can book the gig. Ronin
