Sean,
Welcome to the RWPrimer!
Making a recommendation for any agency is quite difficult. First of all, an agency is not a ‘one size fits all’ service. What one man thinks as good service is another man’s terrible service. I have seen this many times. Also, Russian general business practices can be summed up as ‘caveat emptor’ to the extreme. Cultural norms also play into this as well. For instances, I’ve seen men become shell shocked when finding out that they are responsible for paying the interpreters tab for everything… go figure. Even when a relationship fails, it’s always easier to blame the agency rather than the individuals looking to find their soul mates.
The best one can expect is to see personal recommendations from former agency clients. Even this is fraught with hazards. First, is trying to verify that the client is not a shill, touting for the agency. Even if the client is very reputable, he will often not have the same values as you. Also, the information is time sensitive. Russian agencies, often restructure and change there prices and services without notice. Clients become irate when their internet advertised services and prices aren’t the same as when they contact the agencies directly or what they thought was a local agency turned into a national agency.
So it’s not easy to make credible recommendations. I personally can recommend only one agency; however that recommendation is over 5 years old.
The best thing to do is scour the other forums and then get a consensus of the agencies in the area you are interested in... however alway take the source in high consideration.
Good Luck,
Ronin
