For those WM that are avid leg watchers, you will be disappointed to hear the news from my eyes in Russia. As many know or surmised from surfing through many agency profiles or visits to Russia, RW seem to prefer to wear skirts. The best time to see this phenomenon in all its glory is at early summer when all the gals hit the outdoors with high heels and equally high hem lines. A veritable man’s paradise of eye candy as far as the eye can see.
Well, it looks that those days maybe numbered if not gone already. Outside of Moscow (Tver actually) where summer mini-skirts were the rule, it is now the exception. RW are now wearing slacks and jeans during the day. Sure, there are ways to make jeans and such very appealing, however there is no replacement for the sight of beautiful thighs. It was inevitable that this would happen, however to occur so quickly is very telling of how fast the Russian culture is adopting Western ways. It is also a loss to those WM that have heard the stories of RW femininity. This shift in apparel is perhaps a dent to their feminine virtue as we know it, for we in the West know this can be the beginnings of the slippery slope, though I hope it is not.
I have written a number of posts exclaiming that there are millions of RW that are considering foreign husbands. As each of their precious virtues is degraded by the advance of western norms, they become less and less desirable to WM. For those WM that are on the fence, if you wait too long you will very possibly miss the boat.

| I like this news not. But I have to know: have you been to Ukraine recently? Do you think this could take some time to spread across the whole FSU?

My findings are not absolute and are only a single point observation for the entire month of May in the city of Tver (~ 2 hours drive north, outside Moscow). Summer has not hit this area yet so there is a possibility that this cover-up is seasonal… however I doubt it. If this is indeed an entrenched trend, it is likely to be spillover from Moscow. If this is the case, then it will radiate either geographically and or by areas of high population densities.
The Ukraine is another question entirely. This is a separate country in a more temperate climate zone but still has ties to Russia. If I were to guess, I’d say that the Ukraine would be less likely to have embraced this trend.
I will make inquiries as to when this fashion shift started.

Yes, I'd say more research is definitely needed in this area!
I was in Ukraine in May and thankfully the trend is not there yet!

LOL, I was in Ukraine last april (2007), and I would say that it had not taken hold by that time. It was a major effort not to get whiplash many times on even a single street. This was even during a time when the weather was actually pretty chilly, though clear.
This was in eastern Ukraine (Lughansk), but I noticed plety of skirts at the airport in Kiev also. Am going back to Kiev at the end of August (2008), to stay a week, so we shall see then if it has changed in 16 months.
