I'm in my mid thirties and currently living in Manila, Philippines. I was enamored with Asia ever since I had visited while in the Navy, and then vowed to get myself there again someday. Well I eventually achieved this and have been living in various countries experiencing the cultures and local women.

I've been in the Philippines the longest by a mix of choice and necessity. I've come to the realization that a long tern Asian GF or wife is probably not an option for me as the cultural and intellectual personalities of the majority do not match my own personality and idiosyncrasies. Thus, I am beginning to think that making a major move to Eastern Europe or Russia may be the best option for me to find a decent partner for a change. I think different regions of the world; attract different types of western men. SE Asian women attract a certain type of personality and unfortunately they are not for me long term, only for short-term entertainment. I am thinking RW are more serious minded and focused on goals and I prefer this outlook.

I have an undergraduate degree in a computer related field and two masters degrees, one in education and the other in humanities. Technically I am a certified educator from my home state in America, but currently not working in an international school right now as I detest being micromanaged and prefer being a consultant or doing short-term contract work.

I'm sure I could get work easily enough in Russia or Ukraine in one fashion or another, I suppose the problem would be how much would I make and could it pay the bills? I'm currently exploring alternative ways to supplement my income online, as I'm somewhat versatile and flexible in the type of employment I can partake in.

I have little interest in living in the United States, unless out of necessity. I would prefer living in either the country of origin of any future wife I may procure or immigrating to a different western country like Australia or New Zealand. I'm not much interested in working for others so I would like to start up my own business where I call the shots and control things.

Being in education I would love to open an alternative educational school that is bilingual, as I can't stand the political BS and diversity c**p being rammed down American throats. I am very future thinking and most schools and admin are stuck in the past and quite unwilling to make the changes necessary to train kids properly and meet the challenges of the present and future.

Could this be an economically feasible venture or is the competition to much and potential income not enough to remain viable? I know Russia or Ukraine are not rich countries, but I would assume with proper budgeting a comfortable living could be had while also contributing to the local people and economy. I live a local lifestyle in the Philippines, so I assume I could adjust living in another culturally varied enviroment.

I'm an INTJ personality (Rational) and need a woman who is more introverted than extroverted, independent, intelligent, higher educated, decent looking (at least a 7) and can be an asset in the relationship and not a liability. Can she help support a business endeavor and help make it sustainable and profitable? This is almost impossible with a Filipina! I mean I get scolded for being too serious here and objective oriented! People here say there is something wrong with me, whereas I look around me at the state of their country and its inhabitants and I wonder WTF are they talking about? I'm working with Koreans now as they are more logical and don't degrade the way I think and do things. But even they are only a short-term solution to a long-term problem.

Thus after 2010 when my visa runs out I plan on exploring getting away from this country and moving on to my next overseas adventure. I'm not in a rush to marry or have a relationship, but I would like to experience whether Eastern European women are actually better for me personally. I'm only in my mid-thirties so I would still like to enjoy my freedom while I'm still young before getting hitched, although I know raising a family is tough and I don't want to be too old trying to raise a young child or two.

So I joined this site to read up and research the countries and women so that I can have an edge. I always knew there was something wrong with American woman and I have never had a serious relationship with one in my entire life. Even going to university I dated a foreigner rather than an American.

I guess if you want to make some general comments on my posting you are welcome. I'm sure I'll post further questions in the future. If anyone has any questions about SE Asian women, just contact me and let me know. As I know some of you may be considering other nationalities as well for a potential bride.

By the way what other decent paying jobs would I be able to pursue in Eastern Europe or Russia other than teaching? Just wondering.

Cheers,

Mr S

Mr S,

First off, welcome to the RWPrimer!

You introductory post was outstanding and your situation is unique. Though many have contemplated moving from the US to Russia or one of the CIS countries, no one to my knowledge has done it from the Philippines. That being said, still, many of the issues remain the same. Such as, in what capacity and fashion can one carve a niche in a society that is now forging a "Russia for Russians" mantra. Despite what you may have hear or read, Russia is a very wealth country. The thing is that this is precipitated in only a few geographical regions. The super high cost of living also follows suit.

I suggest looking at the RuExpat Forum site. There, many of your "how to live and work over there" questions can be answered.

Good Luck

Ronin
