Russian Woman and the “Yes” and “No” Answer…

In the search for Miss Right there were many RW that I had to leave in my wake.  Though I did regret that I could not make them all my wives, there is only one allowed to share my life with me.  I’m sure that many RW were disappointed for not having the pleasure of being by my side.  I know for a fact that I broke some hearts in the process.  Heart breaking is a two way street, however in Russia it always seems to be one way.

Along the way I dated a RW that was a real estate agent.  She being 29 years of age, was a bit older than most of the RW I had met.  As a people person by trade, she was quite stunning and very personable.  I was very interested in her and at the end of the first date I asked if we might meet again.  Her response had baffled me.  Though she said “yes” we could not negotiate a time to meet.  Every time I suggested a time or date she had plans.  After spending some time at this, she gets up and goes the window and gazes out onto the street below.  The interpreter goes and talks to her for a moment and then returns to me to explain this bizarre situation.

The interpreter recounts her conversation in short by saying that the woman sees that I’m very sincere, however she had decided that I’m not the man for her.  Also, that it is not in her nature to refuse an offer of a sincere man for fear of upsetting their sensitive nature in the affairs of the heart.

She was giving me a ‘soft no’ or as we call it ‘letting me down easy’.  I found it strange that she would be compelled to do that to a man she hardly knows, however in retrospect I do understand that this perhaps is a cultural thing.  Russia is a man’s world.  For a woman to boldly rebuff a man’s advances is to invite a bruised ego on the man’s part and perhaps at worse very bad luck on the woman’s part.

So in this case, she wasn’t playing hard to get as sometimes happens in a WM/RW banter.  The mixed signals were a way for all parties to bow out gracefully without any hard feels.

This shows that one has to be careful in evaluating mixed signals.  In a situation of a  “yes” and “no” it can be either yes or no.  One has to use their gut instincts to determine the true answer, or in my case having a very good interpreter.

One RW?  I'm pretty sure multiple wives is aloud in Salt Lake City, Utah.  I wonder if two RW would go for it?  ;)
