Russian Women and Religion…

If you ever noticed, practically all RW identify themselves as either being Christian or Orthodox in their profiles.  This can be misleading to many Christian WM.  Consider that Russia has been a land essentially barren of religion for over 70 years.  For many RW the Orthodox Church is more a cultural observance than spiritual one.  I’ve seen many RW give greater heed to wife’s tales and superstitions.  One will be hard pressed to find a great many ‘devout’ souls among the women population of Russia.

This is not a slight against them, just the truth of how things are in Russia.  Since the chaos after the fall of the wall, RW have been free to follow whatever religion they choose.   However, for the many pragmatic RW, following a faith is not on their top ten list when it comes to survival in neither the new Russian economy nor the old economy as well.  They have been surviving for many generations without the help of a religion; consequently it is not considered an essential of living.   To some it is a weakness and others it is a set of superstitions at best.

Indeed there is a religious vacuum in Russia by our Western eyes.  That is why there are many missions by all faiths that are converging onto this land of rugged ice and snow.  The converts will come, however it will be a slow process and with slim picking.

For those WM that have their hopes of marrying what we envision as a Christian RW, it will not be an easy road.  The definition of Christian between here and there can very widely as about as much as a RW states that she is not a smoker or drinker.  Just as one man’s junk is another man’s treasure, much gets lost or obscured in translation and thought.

For those WM that hope to convert a RWife to a faith, you must have the patience of Job ten times over and risk all that you own in this world.  I may make this sound more like a job fit for a saint.  Truly, this endeavor can become one of the ultimate tests of your life.

If your goal is to find harmony in a wife, this is perhaps the longest road to take. Many RW have been carrying the yoke of others for so long that they know nothing else.  Other RW, one would swear were jaded from birth.  If you are a man on a mission and would like to blaze your own trail to a RWife then I see no greater challenge than a RW.

Regardless, this forum is about reducing risks and resources in the RW quest.  For those WM that want to put their faith against a RW’s belief in fate, be forewarned that you will need much more than what we offer you here.  However, god helps those that help themselves and this is site is a very good start.

Good Luck,

Yes, I've found that RW -- well most of them, since a select few are very religious -- treat Christianity as sort of a "curiousity." One RW I was dating remarked, "I've always thought the church was for the weak and poor, and I'm young and pretty, so it's not for me."  -- actually this one, her Mom was very religious, but only picked it up about 3 years before, she hung a picture of Jesus in her daughter's apartment, but the picture recieved no attention from the daughter.

Another one, I mentioned Christianity and she was sort of interested, made some small comment about it (I can't remember really) but then the conversation moved on.  Actually, I'll correct that, the movie "The Divinci Code" I discussed quite a bit with her, but it was sort of as if, the "Divinci Code" was correct and Religion was obviously a scam.

One more, I watched Mel Gibson's "Passion" with one RW, and actually her brother at her place one time.  Her brother walked out since he thought it was the most stupid movie he'd even seen.  The RW stated, "I can't stand to watch it, because when they hit Jesus, it made me feel like I was hitting him."  Which, as a Christain myself, I can say is sort of the point of the movie -- of course lost on the RW.
