Defense Against E-Scams…

All too often, those that are scammed are predisposed to getting scammed.  Often it is the result of a traumatic event, like the loss of a GF or spouse.  We are all subject to times of less than optimum strength of spirit and level headedness.  If this is the case, IMO it would prudent to refrain from the RW quest until a semblance of your normal self returns.

Now that we are of sound mind and body, there are some basic defenses against e-mail scams.  Mind you that this is a guide.  It will not protect you from all e-scams… just perhaps 99.9% of them.

In a nutshell, this is all you have to do.  During the correspondence phase of getting to know your RW/UW, keep your wallet firmly shut!  If this is a vague statement, the following list is a more drawn out version:

1)      Never give money to a person that you have never met.  This goes for funds directly as well as indirectly.

2)      Never give products, goods, or services that can be readily redeemed or returned for cash to a person you have never met.

3)      Never give money to a service or company that your RW pen pal has suggested.  I’m sorry to say that not all Russian services are on the up and up.

4)      Never get emotionally involved with a picture and some words on paper.  A real RW won’t.

5)      Never propose or commit to anything that is the equivalent to going steady or marriage with a RW that you have never met.

6)      Never agree to meet a RW anyplace other than her hometown.  If you do, you will most likely have to pay her way by sending her or her contact some money.

To be scammed one has to be separated from one’s money, whether it be willing or unwillingly.  You certainly can close the door on parting with your money willing.  That’s 99.9% of the risks eliminated.

Any serious RW understands that an intelligent and clever would be husband would not be so easily fooled and they would respect you for that.  So stash those greens where they won’t see the light of day until you meet your RW and rest assured that you’re doing the right thing.
