Precursors of Scamming as a Business…

Many have asked if Russian Women or agencies have incentives for doing things that are unethical in order to acquire profits.  Though the following may not be 100% correct, it is used to press a point. Here is my view.

Ethics - the rules or standards used to govern an individual, group, or profession.

First, one must understand that ethics is relative.  In general, much of business ethics is guided by the interpretation of commercial & tax laws and the chances of getting caught violating them.  Many individuals go further and modify this by adding there own personal ethics (principles of “right” conduct) that are often derived from how they were raised, religious beliefs and work experiences.  Here again the notion of “right’ is also a relative concept.

American ethics are based on the principles of a free open market that is tempered by social responsibility. A balance of greed to the best good for most.  With aid of high technology developed here, enforcement of these laws is perhaps the tightest in the world. Our historical religious roots of “do unto others and nose to the grind stone” temper this, a well.  All this fits well with our dominant middle class where the too rich are suspect and the too poor are helped out.

Russian ethics are born out of the events of the past 80 years.   In the old Soviet system, ~75% of the largest companies were owned and operated by the State.  Of course the State is not going to tax itself so there was essentially no tax system.  In fact taxes &, profits of individuals were taught to be immoral. The State essential made the promise that they would fulfill the needs of their citizens.  It was an idyllic time in some respects.

Religion was outlawed.  Personal ethics was replaced by communist ethics.  What is good for the State is good for all.  Unfortunately, a system of cradle to grave existence provides a strong cultural force to snuff out the zeal of the most fervent.  Stalin era purge of millions of the most notable & talented was a grim reminder of what can happen to those who didn’t keep their heads low and tow the line.

With the collapse of the Soviet Union, hyperinflation and bank failures wiped out what little savings Russians had. Major capital holders fled the country for safer havens.  The shortage of capital created epidemic unemployment and jobholders who were not paid for work done.  The transition of privatizing the State’s vast corporate holdings was too big a prize for the underworld to pass up.  This brought out criminal carnage in plain sight.  Crime in general exploded.  Wooden apartment doors were replaced with steel triple bolt locks and windows were adorned with wrought iron bars.

In an environment where most where just barely surviving the economic meltdown and contrary to generations of indoctrination, the State established burdensome individual and business taxes where essentially none existed before.  However, the State also was between a rock and a hard place because without its holdings it had little income to expand tax and law enforcement personnel, which it sorely needed.  The existing tax and enforcement structures were not able to cope with the overwhelming tasks.  Consequently, in general, there was a sense of lawlessness in a country where strict and ruthless order had been the rule for generations. This was the least of the people’s worries.

The infrastructure instability propagated into the society at large.  With all the turmoil and uncertainty around them, many went into survival mode.  Desperate times calls for desperate measures.  Small private companies began to cook the books to shield themselves from taxes that would put them out of business.  Unpaid workers began lifting company products as partial payments of wages (after all they are in need and are taking what belongs to them anyway).  Those who were unemployed started their own undocumented enterprises, joined the mafia or died.

For many, after years of survival mode, it became an entrenched way of life.  The people had become hardened to their harsh realities.  There was no escaping it so they embrace it.  Borrowing, bartering and influence trading became a way of life.  Any opportunity to make money or gather assets where seized on without hesitation.  A world of dog-eat-dog 7 times the size of the U.S.  In this erosion of society, ethics took blind eye to survival.

Then Western Men. searching for brides, came toting bags of gold asking if they are being ripped off.  The answer is obvious.  I know of no one who had visited Russia that wasn’t relieved of some of his rich burden in one way or another, me included.  However, bear in mind that Russia doens't discriminate.  Russian is a 'need' based society.  The more you have over and above the averge Russian, the more that will try to slip between your fingers to those that need it.  It is the job of WM to do a good job at damage control and keep your losses to a minimum.  Just think of it as a cost of doing business in Russia.  Like the forty-niners prospecting for the mother lode, they paid inflated prices for goods & services, dealt with claim jumpers, bandits and swindlers for the chance to strike it rich.  A forum member put it something like this, “In Russia, you know you are swimming with the sharks.”  Indeed, in part the trick is to chum the waters in the “right places & amounts” to gain some measured advantage without expenditures becoming any much more than chump change.

To further hammer the nail, keep things in perspective.  Perhaps the thought of being taken advantage of maybe a source of moral outrage.  Best to maintain a focus on the goal at hand.  When in Rome do as the Romans do.  With Russian affairs, Russian citizens alike, if you want things done fast, convenient or as stated (I don’t know any WM that would demand anything less) paying a required price may not yield the desired result.  Greasing the skids comes with paying extra up front.  Not greasing the skids means that you may end up paying twice more on the back-end.

I write this not to discourage those that are Russian Women seekers.  This is to enlighten those that truly want to know what they have to deal with.  For those that are street smart and world savvy, it goes without saying.  Ethics in the west is somewhat a defined line that we have grown accustom to as an immutable.  It is by no means the same or as ridgid in other countries.  The consequences of assuming so will give rise to disapointment to severe outrage.

Let me put it another way... anyone that endeavours to find a Russian Bride will be disapointed and perhaps outraged at some points along the way.  It comes with the territory.  Don't dwell on it or it will misdirect you from your goal.  This bears some mind adjustments in what is the best way to approach this Russian bride endeavor and any transactions of an international flavor.  There are no guarantees in love and many will try to take advantage of this fact.  Always weigh the risks to rewards as your guide, there is always greater strength in numbers. believe in Murphy’s Law and follow the Words in Stone without fail.
