Greetings all,

I have been lurking in the background here at RWP for a while now. I finally decided to register after reading Honestman’s posting “One Man’s Discovery”.

I’m definitely not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to women of the FSU, but I do have some experience, having been befriended by a Ukrainian family a few years ago that thought I’d be a good match for the wife’s sister. While some events are quite comical to me, I am not making fun and would never tolerate those who do. I lived a few years in Germany and I know how hard it is to have to assimilate to another culture, language, etc. In all, I have a year’s worth of experience in going shopping, driving the “machina” on US 1 (in South Florida rush hour traffic), helping deal with FEMA hurricane claims, the first trip to a festival sponsored by the Seminole Nation of Florida, my first encounter with what she considered tea, eating pancakes filled with whatever seemed to be handy and the inevitable discussion of “who invented what, us or them”, her meeting my mother and last but not least, why it didn’t work out and the indelible mark this incredible young lady left on me, and how that family made me realize why I have never been and probably never will be, happy with American women. I’m not knocking the homegrown variety, their fine. I just found a world (literally) of difference between the two and discovered I preferred their ways to ours.

Although I feel I must protect the actual identities of my friends, I’d be more than happy to share these experiences if anyone is interested.

Hello all,

I apologize for what will probably seem like a round-a-bout way to relate my UW story. I was never really very brilliant at explaining things. One thing always leads me to another and I feel as though I never lay a proper foundation for why things happen as they do. Sometimes the circuitous route that I understand perfectly, will confuse minds far superior to my own. I will therefore have to make effort to be linear and start at the very beginning. If I say something that seems to poke fun, I’m not. I will try to tell how events struck me at the time they occurred and what I think now. Unfortunately I write like I talk and even though I have been very blessed with opportunities to travel and see a great many wonders in faraway places, I’m just a good ol’ boy that managed to get off the farm for a while and returned home some 20+ years later.

Please feel free to make comments or ask any questions along the way. I’ll do my best to answer. I’m not a preacher (that was my dad) but it says in Proverbs 24:6  “For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war; And in multitude of counselors there is safety”. That tells me to hang out here at RWP and other places on the net, get the general gist of things, check and double check, ask advice, try to learn what has and has not worked for others and if possible relate some of my own experiences. I work in healthcare so my schedule is a little erratic. I usually work weekends and off thru the week but it depends on how we’re staffed (usually poorly). So postings might appear at irregular intervals........

Hello all,
From one PK to another PK, Welcome!  You will be amazed at what you can learn here.  Then when you 'experience' those things in real life, well, talk about Déjà Vu!!
