Hello there,
I'm not exactly a newbie, I'm a transplant from RWD, but I wanted to introduce myself properly to this forum. Well my name is David, I'm from the Bay Area in California, born and raised here. I am divorced (5 years ago) with no children. I was married to an AW, and I don't want to get too personal, but it's not exactly what I had in mind for a marriage. Bur hey, the real reason I'm here is to talk about Russian Women, so....
The first exposure I had to women of the FSU was when I was on vacation in Greece, I was married at the time, but met two amazingly beautiful girls on the beach one day in Santorini. They just asked me to take their photo for them, and we started talking, I couldn't believe beautiful girls like this could be so friendly to a stranger, I was more used to the stand offish AW that I have met, these girls were different! Turns out they were from Ukraine, there on vacation with family...we talked for awhile, but being a married man, I didn't let it go too far, but had the confidence to know that I could have easily gotten a phone number I went on my way, but never forgot about those girls, and those accents that were so cute.
Fast forward to post divorce single guy, out on the town again Dated my share of women, had a steady girl for awhile, that ended and I started the net dating thing and….this story is getting long…I ended up falling for a girl I saw on an agency website, I wrote to her, she wrote back, and we started a correspondence. Im not the type to be a keyboard Romeo, so I planned a trip to Russia in October 2004. I was going to the city of Volgograd, or actually a suburb named Volzhsky. Anastasia agency helped me with all of this…NOT anastasiaweb, this is a small agency, and they are top notch in my opinion.
So I made the mistake of a WOVO trip, I had a few back ups, but not really anything solid, this is a mistake I would have never made if I had visited forums like this one before I met her. This girl was drop dead gorgeous, former model, and she was not modest about it, she LOVED to look at herself in the mirror. This trip was an experience but no real sparks were flying, I mean we got along ok enough, but had to use a translator, it just wasnt what I had hoped for, but of course my expectations were way off..I figured we would hit it off great based on our letters to each other. In a way we did, but wasnt like either one of us thought it would be. We met again on my second trip over (Moscow) and promptly ended things there. This was going nowhere…
I made a third trip to Kiev (loved it) Yalta (liked it) Moscow again (this time was better) and Volzhsky one more time, and yes met with the former g/f, we had a nice lunch, and think we both got some closure. The thing is I made this trip after recently meeting an amazing Ukrainian girl right here in California! My heart wasnt into that trip, because I was thinking about her…her name is Nataly.
We met on Luckylovers.net, and instantly became net buddies, there was no romance, or talk of it anyway, we were friends. Than she tells me shes coming to the U.S., she won a GC visa lottery…I start thinking, yeah right…when is she going to ask for plane ticket money. She didnt, she really did come, and she was beautiful and fun to be with in person, she really did have a visa, and got her GC later. I met her in San Jose, Ca. and did my best to show her around the Bay Area, you know San Francisco of course, Santa Cruz, Sausalito, we had a lot of fun together, and I was beginning to think maybe we were more than friends, we just clicked in many ways, and the attraction was there, so yep, I put the moves on her ! :-p
It wasnt until after my trip to Ukraine that we became serious, I think my experiences in her homeland helped me in relationship with her, language was never a problem, she speaks English very well, but learning about her culture helped me understand who she was, and where she came from. We have been dating over 1 ½ years now, and moved in together 6 months ago. We are very much in love, but our relationship is more like a normal AM/AW type, there is no K-1 visa pressure or anything like that, we are taking things as they go, I dont believe in rushing into marriage, but I do see that in our future.
So here I am still learning about RW, and what better place to share ideas, thoughts, stories and interests, than right here with other people going through the same things I am, we can all learn from each other. Thanks for reading my story, I know it looks long, but thats the shortest I could make it! Ill be glad to answer any questions, thanks in advance for welcoming me to this forum. - David
