The Phone Book Story…
Yes, Russians make full use of what their cell phones can do. Young Russian Women are especially adept with this technology. After all, the cell phone is a communication device and in part so are women in general. The cell phone had the ability to extend and/or connect themselves outside their normal spheres.
Not long ago, my wife and I met a younger man that had just brought over his RW fiancé. She was a very smart, intelligent and savvy woman. She had been in the States for a short time and the man had loaded her up with many of the accoutrements we deem essential for life here as we know it... perhaps too much too fast. Among the items was the latest and greatest of cell phones with all the bell and whistles. She knew how to use it well for I’m sure she must have used them in Russia.
Nevertheless, the meeting and the day went very well and everyone had a good time. When it was time to part, we exchanged phone numbers. Everyone was blazing away updating their cell phone books except me. Being the ‘old guy’ in the group that still thinks that a cell phone is just a phone, I have yet to master loading my cell phone book with often used numbers. Well, after obviously fumbling with my cell for a few minutes, the RW snatches the cell from my hand and loads the young man’s business number into my phone.
My wife and I said our goodbyes and headed on home. At home, we reviewed our thoughts on this new couple. The question that always comes up is “will this new relationship last and will it be a good union.” The one thing that struck us both was how the RW took it upon herself to load my cell phone. My wife and I looked at each other and knew something was afoot. I looked at my cell phone book and compared it with the number that the RW gave to my wife (the number that my wife loaded on her cell). Both numbers were the same!
Cell phones are a powerful tool in the right hands. RW will make the best use of them.
