It's day 3. (ok, I've been real busy since 28 Feb!)  and my lovely Принцесса is fixing supper. About 15 minutes before I had shown her my potato peeler instead of the paring knife and she was now finished peeling potatoes for a very delicious soup. However, she came to me and informed me that "sink is broke!" She then proceeded to show me that when she switched on the garbage disposal, it just groaned and nothing happened. In horror, I looked down the drain and it was packed! Packed with potato peelings!
This all started the night she arrived. Tim, my best friend, had accompanied me to the airport and brought over to our flat a picnic basket of meats, cheeses, grapes, breads and wine and we had a little "Welcome to Техас party" at our new flat. During the evening, grape stems, and other organic matter made it into the sink and she would try to scrape it up and put it in the trash, but I would stop her, rinse the stuff into the drain and turn on the disposal. she thought this was the neatest thing and of course, I heard the, "we not have in Moscow." 
So, now forward to day three, seems I "neglected" to show her that things needed to go into the disposal at a measured pace and that there needed to be some water accompany the stuff as well!
So, digging a few potato peelings out of the drain allowed the disposal to become unjammed and we were back in business!
ahhhhh, what did I get myself into?? <grin> a shucks! I know I'm going to enjoy this. It will be "very interesting!"
