He had just returned from Russia, where he took part in a documentary on the subject of women and femininity.
'Russian women don't have that hardness of women in England and America,' he said. 'They get their men because they are extremely feminine and they listen to their men, yet they are not regressive. They have managed to hold on to an old-fashioned prettiness.
