Traveling safe in not just getting there in one piece. There are potential hazards to avoid in dear old Russia itself. Now who would have believed that! I happened across a great page of Russia travel tips in the Cossack Connection. It is well worth your time to take a look see to arm yourself for these situations. They include such things as:
- ATMs to watch out for.
- The "Open up, your apartment has a gas leak" ruse.
- Making the mark by greeting strangers in English.
- Gypsy or rogue taxi ripoffs.
- Police traps.
- Found wallet scam.
- Pickpockets on the street.
- Pickpockets in the restaurants.
