Airlines are stuggling to find ways to reduce the impact of higher energy costs. One way is to reduce the allowable weight of luggage. Be aware of the number of check-in luggage and weigh per piece that are allowed by EACH carrier. Also, check the same before your return flight, since policies can change.
Incidences have occurred where weight of luggage going to Russia was substantially difference than when returning. Also, 2 check-in luggage was allowed one way and only one check-in luggage was allowed the other way.
