Letters of Intent… Letters of intent can vary widely in content. They can be a discrete document or part of the cover letter for the document package used to petition for the K-1 Fiancé Visa. In the letter there must be the following points as a minimum, however every situation is different and may require more points: 1) Your legal full name. 2) State that you’re a citizen of… 3) Your current address. 4) Her legal full name. 5) State that you intend to marry her (not kick the tires or checking out the goods). 6) How and were you met (enclose pics as proof of meeting). It would be good to add some short personal comments such as: 1) How both of you feel about each other. 2) How serious you are about marrying her. Letter of intent should not be more than one page long. Attached is an example of good letter that will get results. It is short, concise and to the point:

After reviewing the format of the 'letter of intent' I will have to add a few more points. As part of the K-1 application package, the petitioner has to prove that they have personally met with their RW. The 'letter of intent' is the perfect venue for this. As such I suggest that the 'short personal comments' #1 & #2 be moved to become required points. Also, mention that you have enclosed unretouched picture(s) of both of you together. It is best to print out the picture on a full 8 1/2" x 11" photo sheet with captions on the border that contains both of your full names, date and place the pictures were taken. This is the best and only form of proof that you need that both of you have met. Ronin
